When you drive in you immediately see Kasha-Katuwe "the white cliffs". The area was designated a National Monument in 2001. The cone shaped tent rocks are the products of volcanic eruptaions that happened 6 to 7 million years ago and left pumice, ash and tuff that was actually over 1000 feet thick.

Of the two main trails at this trailhead for Kasha-Katuwe Tent Tocks National Monument, the Cave Loop Trail is the more difficult, but is also the more picturesque  of the Slot Canyon Trail.
